#MusicMonday: Music Video of the Week

I must admit that this “Girl Meet World” star took me by surprise, especially since I have yet to watch the series yet (I know!). I came upon this video randomly on YouTube in the “Recommended” section. At first thought, I wasn’t going to click on it but I’m glad I did! It’s not something I expected but here is Sabrina Carpenter with her newest video “Smoke and Fire”. I’m headed to subscribe to her on Spotify!

Do It Like A Pro: 5 Tips for Flawless Foundation

When it comes to makeup, we either hit or miss. We spend our time watching a countless number of YouTube videos created by our favorite gurus only to not quite get it right. We try over and over and over again but sometimes it just doesn’t work. However, with these five tips, you can master any makeup look you want. Now, keep in mind these are things I do when working on clients all the time and the products I suggest are most likely my favorites (Makeup Forever and Urban Decay). It’s not always about what product you use but HOW YOU USE IT!

Tip #1: Customize Your Formula! – Customizing your formula gives you a few benefits: you can perfectly match your skin color and make your foundation last longer. To make your foundation last longer, try using a mattifying foundation on your oily areas and a dewy (either something with a “radiant” or “satin” finish) foundation on the outside of your skin. If you have problems finding the perfect foundation match for your skin, purchase a foundation slightly lighter and darker than your skin tone. Next, blend them together, varying the ratio, until you finally match your skin. It may take a bit of practice but you’ll get the hang of it. If not, contact your local makeup artist! They should be able to point you in the right direction!

Tip #2: Use Highlighter Before You Apply Your Foundation. – This is one of my all time favorite to do when I’m going for a nice natural glow. By applying a nice cream highlighter onto the skin before your foundation, you too can create a glow like the pros.

NARS Illuminator, $30.00 | Sephora.com

Tip #3: Prep Your Skin – When it comes to applying makeup, the most important rule is to take care of your skin and prep it before applying anything! To prep your skin, apply a nice primer or moisturizer to the skin to help create a smooth complexion. If you need to make your look last through the night, apply primer. Also, if you prefer moisturizer, be sure not to over or under apply it.

Tip #4: Apply Concealer AFTER Foundation – Have you ever noticed that when you put your concealer on then your foundation that those spots are still showing?! That’s because when you apply your foundation you are moving your concealer around; so instead, apply a flesh toned concealer after the foundation and set it lightly with a neutral or translucent powder.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer, $28.00 | Sephora.com

MUFE Ultra HD Concealer, $28.00 | Sephora.com

Tip #5: Setting Your Makeup: Choose Your Weapon of Choice – When it comes to setting makeup you will notice one of two things that makeup artists do: they set your makeup with either powder or spray. To keep that natural dewy look, be sure to use a spray that will help you maintain it. To dull those places that are too shiny, use a thin layer of powder. I personally use both. I like to set my T-Zone with powder then spray the rest of my face that way my makeup still looks natural.

Cinema Secrets Super Sealer Mattifying Setting Spray, $24.00 | Sephora.com

Online Dating: My First Date

Hey guys!
So I’ve decided to try out online dating and see who I meet and if I really find someone I can connect with. So far I’ve joined Bumble, OkCupid, and POF.

Last night I had my very first physical date with someone I’ve met online. I was really impressed by the guy’s effort. He paid for everything, opened the doors, and picked me up from my apartment complex. I wasn’t expecting much since I had a business meeting right before but we ended staying out until midnight. I found myself laughing again and being silly. So what did we do? First we went to Olive Garden, where we ate out favorite dishes, drank some wine & beer, and talked. The conversation seemed to naturally flow between us which I liked. Its been a long while since I’ve had something like that happen. Next, we headed to AMC to watch Deadpool. I know. I know. I’m a little behind but I’m working on it!

Now, I’m not too keen on PDA. I don’t know why but it just isn’t me. So, I found it a little awkward when he tried to hold my hand and cuddle with me. The last time I did that at a movie theater, my ex and I moved WAY too fast! (If you catch my drift) It was also a little odd that he wanted to share the same straw. I’m cool with sharing a drink but I NEVER share straws. He kept distracting me by trying to tickle me, kiss/light bite my hand (I know. Weird right?!), and pulling me closer to him. Everyone knows that I get into my movies and shows. I definitely don’t like getting distracted!! Once the movie ended, we were walking to his car while out of nowhere he’s holding me around my waist and began walking along with me. Like I said, not a huge fan of PDA.

What I Liked:
● He is super sweet.
● He’s easy to talk to
● He loves laughing and joking around.
● He accepts me the way I am.

What I Didn’t Like:
●The PDA! I  don’t like it especially if it’s the first date.
● He seems a little clingy. He didn’t want let go of me. Even though it was just date one!
● He’s ready to make me his girlfriend already. I like to take it slow before jumping into a relationship. I want to feel like I really know who I’m with.

So you might be thinking, “what are you going to do?” Well, I don’t know! Should I let him redeem himself or just ghost? Share your thoughts below!

Much Love,
Katy S.
